Frequently Asked Questions

The Code Enforcement Office became effective on March 18, 1986 by Administrative Order 2-5. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 8CC, of the Code of Miami Dade County, the Clerk is charged with the responsibility of administering the Code Enforcement Office. This quasi-judicial process assists in expediting hearings requested by individuals cited by County Code Inspectors for violations of County ordinances. This administrative hearing process is designed to redirect numerous cases from the misdemeanor County Court system, in an effort to reduce their case load activity. The Code Enforcement Office also has the responsibility of collecting all original civil penalty payments, continuing civil penalty payments, and administrative hearing costs imposed pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 8CC.
