Clerk's Office Financial System

The Clerk's Office collects approximately $425 million dollars annually in fines, deposits and services in twenty locations throughout Miami-Dade County.  This project has replaced outdated cash registers, with an open PC platform which communicates directly to the host computer system. The PC will be the strategic workstation for future applications. The cashiering component should be completed in the year 2000 with the integration of parking payments.

Presently, customer is able to make one transaction for any of the fifty authorized payment types and the system communicates with the appropriate mainframe application in an on-line environment. The cashiering PCs will also be connected through LANs (centrally controlled by a server located in the Clerk's Office Technical Services Division) for maintenance, support and analytical management reporting needs.  We started the second component of our financial process which is a PC-based Accounting System.  Overall, the new system will provide a more efficient, effective and flexible environment which will assist this office in improving its level of service to its customers, the citizens of Miami-Dade County.
